The HTC Vive finally has a release date

It's in April!

In what we hope is not some kind of incredibly elaborate and forward-planned April fools, HTC has announced that their long awaited Virtual Reality headset, HTC Vive, will be commercially available from April 2016, a little later than was originally thought but still excitingly soon.

In a blog post HTC stated: “We will be starting the new year by making an additional 7,000 units available to developers, followed by commercial availability in April 2016. We are incredibly excited about the future and look forward to sharing more information as we move forward towards launch.”

Having tried the Vive ourselves, and having it as one of the exhibiting headsets at our recent VR event, we can honestly say weā€™re looking forward to this release; out of all the virtual reality headsets in development, it offers the most impressive experience. And after our interview with JB McRee, Senior Manager of Product Marketing at HTC, we were only more excited for the headsetā€™s release. As of yet, thereā€™s no pricing information, nor is there an exact date in April when we can expect to see the Vive in stores, but at least weā€™ve finally narrowed it down to a month.
