HTC has just announced theĀ latest phone in their mid-range Desire line: the HTC Desire 626.
If youāre thinking it hasnāt been long since the last one, youāre not wrong: just six months since the Desire 620, itself supposed to offset some of the bad feedback to the Desire 610.Ā The 620 got a bad rap for launching with Android KitKat when LollipopĀ was already out - who wants a new phone thatās a version behind?
HTC Desire 626 specs
In the year of super-cheap flagship-challengers like the OnePlus Two, Honor 6+ and Huawei P8, the Desire 626 looks a bit lacklustre even for the midrange. The UK versionĀ comes with theĀ Snapdragon 410 1.2GHz quad-core processor, aĀ 5 inch HD (720p) LCD screen, 16GB of storage (expandable to 512GB with microSD) and 13MP and 5MP cameras. Thereās no mention of the RAM in our press release but if itās the same as the global version, itāll beĀ 2GB.
It comes with Lollipop and runs HTC Sense 7. Itās thinner and lighter than the Desire 620, but comes in the same plasticine-esque soft-finishĀ shell. The colour options have the usual slightly pretentious names:Ā White Birch, Blue Lagoon, Purple Fire and Dark Grey.
HTC Desire 626 UK release date
So far we donāt have an exact date, but we do know the Desire 626 willĀ be available on networks includingĀ O2 and Three, and from Carphone Warehouse when it goes on sale in the UK.Ā Weāll update you as soon as weāve got a price, butĀ in our opinion,Ā the Desire 626 wouldĀ need to be pretty cheap to stand up to the stiff competition in the Android market this summer.
